My wife and I have recently purchased a three bedroom home (older home) in North Vancouver. We would like to work with a general contractor on our renovations (floors, bathroom, kitchen, some electrical and ceiling); and would like to know how long it would take to have a contractor review our needs, as well as how much a consult would cost.

I typically work with people referred to me, and wanted to open up our search to this portal.....just in case!

Hi when doing a renovation most contractors will give you a consult for free. In hopes they get the job. Always have at least three proffesional contractors give you a quote. Then you will make a better informed decision

If you are dealing with a designer or a design/build contractor, generally the first consult is free.
any follow up is billed on a hourly rate as are drawings.

Hello Trevor

The first consultation should always be free. At this time a contractor can get an understanding of your needs and wants in order to be able to provide you with the best alternatives.

Kind Regards

In most cases the initial consult should be free, most contractors will pre-qualify based on your needs, depending on the size and approximate amount, many contractors will make sure you have funds available to complete your renovation based on what you want.
