Hi,

I'm wondering if there is a bricklayer license bureau or a construction license bureau I can complain to regarding the bricklayer I hired to replace 16 window sills outside our home.

He runs his business out of his home in Scarborough, Ontario. He did a terrible job and I want to know if he's even properly licensed.

Please respond quickly if you can.

Thanks

Did you not check out his work and references prior to hiring him? We, as contractors, tell people every day to get 3 quotes and check out their licenses.

People get handymen in to do a pro's job and normally get a handymans quality. If he runs his company out of his home, that is no indication he is not good, many people do, but years of experience and papers say a lot.

Call the BBB or ask him to explain your findings.

I'm sorry to say that brick layers do not need to be licenced.

Prior to hiring someone for that type of work, ask for some addresses where you can swing by and actualy see the quality of work befor you hire someone.

Running a business out of the home, is not an indicator at all of the quality of any contractor. Only past contracts speak an absolute truth.

I would suggest to call your Bricklayer first and ask him to explain your findings like Robert mentioned.

And If he is not willing to talk to you, resp. To fix his work, you should call the BBB and ask them what to do. And maybe they will "flag" him on the BBB website website so other customers be warned.

Regards.
