I changed my cooling heating thermostate. There was an 'R' wire in it which is black. In the new thermostate there is no R. but there are RC and RH and little piece of wire is connecting them. I dont have RH so I only inserted RC. That little piece of wire that was connecting RC and RH is still there. But I didnt know what to do with R. so I pushed in back into the wall.

Please tell me if I have done anything wrong.

Hi

Yes you did right. RH and RC are options for two different comtrol voltage sources. In your case you have only one source of control voltage so you can insert in any side RH or RC provided little jumper wire remains there.

Good luck

Good morning,

If the system doesn't work, then that wire needs to be connected into the system. If the system is working and you are having no trouble then it sounds like everything is ok.

Thanks
