Our bathroom is in the wrong place...to make it worse, it is currently the ony bathroom in the house. We have figured out a way to solve the issue by swapping the laundry room and bathroom locations (they share a wall currently). We would however need to relocate the toilet about 10 feet and the sink about 15 feet.

We are not really concerned about structural issues, the house has fir construction and is in excellect condition.

Any idea of cost to relocate the plumbing in Alberta?

If there is no obsticals in the way, and the stack and the underside of the floor Is visible, you could look at paying a plumber a cost of 800.00 to 1200.00.

If its a crawl space or the basement is built out You could be looking at a lot more. All depending on how assessable the pipes are.

There are several issues to be addressed. The drains are one thing but they also must connect to a stack (which vents any gasses from tthe system).

Some of what you are suggesting may be relatively easy to correct, however, I would suggest contacting a plumbing company or plumber ... and ask about a free estimate. A contractor (plumber) should actually see the layout before providing an estimate, ... just due to the fact that there may be some unseen circumstances to address.

Sorry, but it isn't as simply as it may appear.

There are a few things to consider when taking on something like this. The drains and water lines have their own unique challenges and considerations, most importantly is venting which was previously mentioned.

I wonder why the builder did it the way they did? Be sure no one cuts through joists or removes structural framing to complete this alteration for you. The floor covering will likely need to be repaired / replaced if the toilet is being relocated and the vanity moved (+ other issues?) so keep these in mind too. Walls may need some drywall work repairs, electrical will need to be moved for the dryer and GFI for the bathroom as well as its dryer hot air venting changed. Does the new bathroom location have a window? If not, you will need a new ceiling fan for ventilation installed.

Without seeing it, or knowing the issues, very difficult to price. Best to get three estimates and compare their value to price. It sounds like its low end around $2,500 for just the basics to about $6,000 depending on the overall scope of work. Pricing over emails is very subjective, so go ahead and get a few on site quotes to nail this down as I am really only guessing.
