Fencing, concrete and Interlock

We are moving to a rural home on August 3rd. There is currently an inground pool on the property that is not fenced. We are looking to have black chainlink surround the pool as soon as possible for insurance purposes. Although we can't give you specific dimensions of the area at this point we can tell you that the pool is of average size with poured concrete decking and a 12x12 interlock sitting area. Depending on pricing (and finances after our move) we are also looking to do the following: (1) lay interlock in front of our small barn (approximately 20 x 10: we have the interlock); (2) tear up existing concrete around the pool (which has badly shifted) and replace; (3) sod and fence an area outside our back door as a large dog run (approximately 20 x 10) (4) grade and lay gravel on our driveway (approximately 1,000 feet) If the pricing could be broken down for us that would be great. We may have to do all of the above in single projects, over time, if costing is more than what we are expecting it to be. Thank you for quoting. Carrie

Pavement along external wall and repaving the concrete stone patio

The pavement along the external wall is about 20-25 sq meters. About half of area has concrete slab, but the gap between the wall and concrete slab is big, about 1 inch. I am thinking to remove the existing the concrete slab and put new ones. The rest half of the area is covered by grass or garden plants. for the materials, either interlock brick or concrete slab will work, I need the quotation of both of them. For the repaving of concrete stone patio, the area is also about 20 sq meters. I prefer to use the existing concrete stone. I think they are just laid on soil. I need they are professionally reinstalled.

Replace flooring and kitchen cabinets

I just purchased a new home and need to replace the carpets with hardwood flooring. There is already hardwood in the halls, stairs, dining room and entry way. The hardwood appears to have been refinished but poorly. I would like to get a quote on completely removing existing flooring (hardwood, carpet and ceramics) and replacing with new hardwood - area is approx 1800 square feet. My preference would be to leave the stairs and have them refinished to match the new flooring. I would like to also replace the kitchen cabinets, but will do this as phase 2 of the project. I will purchase enough hardwood to do the kitchen floors (ceramics removed later) within the next few months (before summer). I would like to find a reputable contractor who can firstly complete the flooring replacement, then when I am ready, they can do the kitchen renovation. I will also be finishing the basement at some point (1900 sq feet) and would like to use the same contractor again. I prefer to find someon that I trust to take me through this whole process.

Kitchen & Bedroom Addition

Our lot is 30' x 170' deep. The front of the house has a front porch that's not insulated. The living/dining room is the original house with a low basement/cellar with concrete flooring where our washer and dryer and other storage items are kept. The kitchen is an old addition built onto the back of the house. The stairs are immediately in front of the entrance from the front porch. The staircase is narrow and the railing up top does not meet safety standards. The stairway is also closed off by a wall. With our 5 year old we're finding that we're outgrowing our house so since we love the area and our neighbours/neighbourhood, we would really like to do what we can to stay but our house needs work so we're looking to turn our place into a beautiful home that would also be suitable for entertaining. We would like to take off the old addition at the back part of the house (main floor kitchen and upstairs master bedroom) and build a kitchen/great room, master bedroom with ensuite with glass shower, Jacuzzi tub, heated floors, etc. We would also like a walk-in closet. The MINIMUM addition is 20x25' and would also have a basement (preferably finished). Beside our existing bedroom is a bathroom that doesn't need work and past that, down the very small hallway and at the front of the house are two small bedrooms. My idea is to open up the two into one and would need to be completely renovated for my son. We were thinking that the existing living room would be a dining room sitting area. We would like the front porch insulated and the wall partially opened up for a nice entrance way. The wall beside the stairs dividing the living room/stairs would be removed and the staircase opened up with new stairs. The structural wall between the existing kitchen/living room would possibly be opened up as well and there would be hardwood throughout. There would be a side entrance into the addition and if possible a powder room somewhere on the main floor if possible. The new kitchen would be next to the dining room with an island and granite countertops with new appliances and breakfast area and the new family room would likely be towards the back of the addition with a fireplace and sliding glass doors to the backyard. The basement would have a bedroom and bathroom with carpet. Haven't quite got to where the laundry will be yet, perhaps we could come up with ideas for that too. I'm hoping for some creative ideas for the perfect design as well as tasteful decorating to turn our existing home into a beautiful heritage home that really maximizes the space. The house would also be left in ‘turn-key' condition. If you think you are able to assist with this and your experience matches with our requirements, you may contact us. Thanks. Chris and Lisa

Bathroon renovation and window installation

This is a small bathroom (approx. 53 square feet) with only a shower (no tub). The shower needs to be gutted. It currently has three walls. We still want a shower installed in the same place, but with the plumming on the other existing wall. We need the two shower walls tiled, and glass enclosures for the remaining two walls. We also want heated floors and the floors tiled. Also, a new sink and toilet needs to be installed where the existing ones are now. 50 s.f. of tile work. A small window 14" by 40" installed (none exist). It needs to be able to open. Preffered materials: shower= glass, tile=marble Age of house: 35 years old. Kitchen Renovation

House built in1918. Kitchen is 165" by 112" and 94" high. The current kichen counter is about 1960s and poorly done. We would like one wall (originally an outside wall) to be opened into the adjacent room. Not necessarily the entire wall. Access to the basement moved to adjacent room to allow more useable space in the kitchen. Cabinitry and counters to meet a tight budget. New wiring will be necessary as well. This probably requires gutting the room and redoing it.

Main Concern: Appearance | Budget: $5,000 - $20,000

Electrician Updating Outlet

I require one outlet to be upgraded from an old two prong ungrounded model to a new 3 prong grounded one. I just called an electrical contractor and he said all that would be needed is to replace the outlet with a GFCI three prong. I have been reading online and apparently this isn't just untrue but also not completely safe. The house was built in 1949 so there is a good chance the outlet isn't grounded. How much would I be looking at to ground and replace this one outlet properly so I can use it in my home office with a surge protector? Thanks
