Project Description: 1970s semidetached house with semi finished basement. Drain pipe is leaking in the basement just above the concrete. Drywall has been removed and I attempted to stop the leak with putty. I probably need to have the pipe replaced. Also the faucet for hot water to washing machine needs replacing because half of the threaded part is missing.

Project Description: We recently purchased a house approximately 40 years old in Blackburn Hamlet. 1. I believe all or the majority of outlets and switches are original. For safety reasons we would like all switches and outlets replaced with new aluminum compatible devices. 2. We would like three new ceiling fans to be installed. 3. We would like one switch separated. The switch currently controls two light fixtures. One is planned to be a ceiling fan. So we would like a separate switch for the light fixture that will only be for a light. 4. We have a switch for outdoor floodlights that we would like have it moved. It is currently in the center of a wall. We want it rewired and moved closer to a patio door. 5. We would like all other connections inspected and any issues resolved. For example, there have been upgrades of light fixtures. I am not certain if the connections are safe and if correct marrets were used. 6.Besides this we would like any other issues with the electrical system resolved. We have not observed any adverse issues with the electrical system so far. The goal is to pass an ESA inspection for insurance reasons and to feel safe in the house. I am available to meet contractors at the house so they can get more information to better quote prices. It would be appreciated if we could get per item (e.g. per outlet replaced) and per hour costs (e.g. for inspection and resolution of other issues). I only want to deal with contractors that are experienced with working with aluminium wiring. My preference is to work with ESA ACP certified contractors.

While Ernest worked to stay within our budget, due to poor management (he only realized we were over budget when it was too late) he went over budget by 20%. However, this was not what really bothered us. As soon as we made the final payment, we never heard from him again. We have tried repeatedly to call him (the number is no longer active) and email him (no response) because there were several things that were done incorreclty (water infiltrating behind tiles in the shower, heater that he installed never worked), however he has dissappeared! If you decide to hire Ernest as your contractor, I would advise that you ensure all the work is done appropriately before making your final payment.

This was a deck and fence project completed September 2009. After a slow start getting the project going and various rain delays the fence and deck came together very nicely. Ernest and his team were responsive to any of my concerns and corrected things as needed. They were also able to adjust things on the fly as changes were made. All in all I was very pleased with both the construction experience and the completed work.

Adam seemed like a really creative and positive guy. He had great ideas and I was really looking forward to working with him. He was flexible around budget and agreed to lower the cost if I were to supply all materials. Unfortunately, Adam was not able to follow through. He would get things started and then not finish them or would do a very poor job of the jobs that he did do. A ceramic floor was laid improperly with the wrong sealant; worse yet, he did not do an adequate job of the grouting and, in fact, left grout on the tiles that will not ever come up. He put in a new counter without leveling it and it has damage because instead of taking the time to level it, he tried to get it to fit by having his wife sit on it until the pieces fit together.
