I got John and his crew over and what can I say they were clean, fast, courteous, and the best part was the bill. John went over the bill with me and my wife and made sure that we did not pay for anything that they did not do or use. There is not a contractor that I know of that sits down with you about the bill. They even let me do some of the work that I had time for and this was reflected on my bill. There is nothing bad that I can say about what they did. If you ask me if I would get them back. In fact we sold the other house in record time and bought a new place and they are comming to look at a job that we want done here. Thanks John and his guys for a job well don

Thanks for the info. Had a contractor quote me $3.00 sq ft to hang drywall then another $3.00 sq ft to mud and tape.

Contractor damaged my window
I have a contractor doing an outside addition-a roof over a deck that he also built. While we were away he worked on the roof (there is a window right under the roof on the house) and when we came back home the window was damaged right in the middle of it-a big scratch in the field of view. He states it must have been a shingle that blew off of the new roof (that he built). It is evident from the scratch on the window plus the continuance of the scratch down the siding that a piece of sheet metal was the culprit...perhaps someone carrying pieces of fascia?? We have a very windy climate and he was working on a very windy day. Who's responsibility is it to fix the window if it was a shingle that blew off? How do I address this? He states he has contacted his insurance company and they will pay for half-why the heck should I have to pay for anything???

Hi Renee! The way you describe it, it looks that only the glass unit is the issue and not the whole window. How ever you have to look from inside and outside to see if there are glazing stops that allow to remove the glass only, If its all welded you will need to replace the frame too. To replace the glass and labour depends on the size should be a few hundred $ (250?, 300?). Find first the cost and let the contractor know, he might think its expensive and that why he went to his insurance.
