| Project Description: We had our 2.5 Carrier air conditioner disconnected for landscaping and require it to be reconnected. The copper pipes were properly capped (yellow and red) and material maintained within the unit (frion?). Sorry, I'm not too familiar with the terminology, but wondered what it would cost to reconnect it. The unit was functioning perfectly well when we disconnected it. I live in Pickering. Thanks. |

Mr. Simonovski originally came out to my house to take over a job on my deck that another contractor took on but never got around to. By contrast, Mr. Simonvski arrived when he said he would, gave me a quote and a timeline for when it would be done, and stuck to both his quote and his timeline. He and his workmen were all polite, good humoured and communicated clearly throughout the job. On another occasion recently when I needed work done urgently on my garage because the roof was caving in (so it was structurally unsound for the upcoming winter snows), I called Mr. Simonovski and he agreed to do the work on a rush basis and again, he stuck to his quote and his timeline. In each case the jobsite was left spotless and I was absolutely thrilled that it w...more

Paid for the carpet and installation. Installation was done like other have said, by a monkey. We called the day it was installed to say there were errors, they said they would come out to fix it. One month later, and many calls later we are still waiting. They take your money, do a terrible job and are never seen again. DO NOT TRUST THEM

Basement Framing in Pickering, Ontario.
Can anyone give me a rough hourly rate and the time involved for framing 100 lineal feet of basement wall (7' high) with three basement window openings and three door openings?
I only need the LABOUR cost for framing alone (I have the lumber) with no insulation, electrical, or drywall included.
Thank you.

Hi Chuck, in general there is no such thing as too much insulation. You should get an energy audit done and it will tell you how much insulation needs to be added to qualify for rebates. They want a minimum of R51. If this is a new build, you would probably want about 18" of cellulose to ensure adequate coverage after settling. As you can imagine, when you blow in this much insulation it goes everywhere - including into your soffits. For this reason, you must ensure the baffles are extended up enough to allow the roof to continue to breath. You should also insulate your attic hatch to the same R value as the attic. This can be done by building up the curb around the opening to the height of the cellulose, cutting blue or pink rigid to fit the hatch fairly tightly (could be up to 12" high) and applying a weather stripping on the ledge that the hatch sits on. You should post your requirements in the projects area so you can get some local contractors out to see your situation. Good Luck! Jim Kuzma Kettleby Handyman Services
