Old Goat - located in Red Deer

Hired this guy to tear down a fence and build a new one. Tore the old one down with out a problem, but then things fell apart. Weather wasn't the best, but when it was nice out he only worked on it about 3 to 4 hours a day, Was asked to butt the pickets up against each outher, but instead left a 1/4" gap between them, also didn't cement many of the posts in as he said he would. Was not putting a toe board on and when asked why, he said he would install it later. Let him go after he had completed 83 feet of the 220 (which we tore down and re-did). Paid him good money for what little he did and he couldn't even clean up his mess. A complete disappointment.

I had the Old Goat Handyman complete 2 projects for me; building a large deck and finally remodelling my basement. Both projects were well done, on time, and we are very happy to reccomend the Old Goat.

They replaced the shingles on my roof over a year ago. Since the work was completed the roof has leaked into my attached garage every time it rains. Dalton has made several attempts at repairing it but lately has not been responding to my phone calls or messages left. Have sent complaints by registered mail which have not been answered. I am afraid that they may now be out of business. It's a shame because I thought that Dalton was a nice genuine guy.

Basement flooring
I have been looking at different types of options for basement flooring and I am curious about the vapor barrier as some indicate that it is required and other are saying that trapping moisture between the barrier and the cement will over time create issues with mould and rot?
I have seen a couple of options that lay directly on the cement but allow air circulation to allow moisture to dry and do not require a barrier and other that do require a barrier before instalation.
I have never had any flooding or wet issues in the basement and what I want to do is replace the carpet with some type of solid surface to reduce allergens. I also want the floor to be warm and not have issues with mould or rot.
What is correct, I am leaning towards to allow the moisture to escape and dry out rather than trapping????
Thanks for the advise.

I was considering the dimpled plastic as well. How do I fix to the floor? If I have uneven spots, will a straight edge aid in isolating them so I do not have to level the entire floor? The Latest Reply
Acrylic tubs are easily fixed by someone in the business -- the home builder I used to work for always hired a professional service for this work and they could fix any tub damage. Just search (online or phone book) under acrylic repairs -- or if you know a plumber, ask them for a referral. As for repairing it yourself, after having observed the repair person we used to hire, I wouldn't attempt anything larger than a deep scratch myself -- and I'm not sure what products are available for such a do-it-yourself repair job. hope that helps, myra
