I was in touch with this Ray Dial and sent him a check for the full amount of the door of $1,800. The check was cashed on August 31, 2011. No door ever came. I was given the run around for the rest of the year of 2011 and in January 2012 finally did hear back from Raye Dial that my door was finished and being crated for shipping, that I should be seeing it in the nest few weeks. Six weeks later I contacted him and was told the company had changed hands and was no called Smart Garage and that they would honour Garador's commitment to it's customers and supply the door. More time went by and I get a letter from David Genes telling me the same thing. My door would be coming. Next I hear no door will be coming and even the new owner of Smart Garage, John, tells ...more

Was building a new Garage and needed a particular type of door and the Roll-a-door fit the bill. I contacted Garador and after some research ordered the doors with openers and gave a $1700.00 deposit. A few days after they cashed the cheque I find out they have gone out of business. I have started legal action but don't have much hope of recovering my deposit. Their website is still up but please DO NOT send them money.

I purchased a rolling door, garage door type, for an access to a storage area under my house. * They were months late with the installation. * There is no weather stripping! * The door is one thin layer of metal; thin enough to cut with a can opener. * There is no insulation in the door. * The door is very drafty. * Mice and insects come into the house via the gaps between the doors and the rolling hardware. * I have had to screw plywood on the exterior, over the door, and hang quilts inside the door, to try to stay warm. * The firm does not respond to attempts to contact them regarding the issues around the door. These doors may suit a storage shed or inside storage where pest entry is not a problem, but these doors are not suitable for garage doors ...more

Which Is The Most Durable Flooring Material For Stairs? Laminate, Engineered Hardwood Or Hardwood?
My very unskilled, unprofessional, expensive but claimed to know how to anything handy man just finished the laminate flooring in my living room and dining room after 7 days of work on a 450 sq ft space!!! Not only was the work terrible (because he did't level the uneven wooden floors, halfway through the job his helper had stop tapping each piece of laminate and stopped applying glue), after checking with several laminate contractors, I realized I was overcharged by $400! Long story short, there remain 14 steps of stairs to be finished. I used a dark brown laminate in the living room but used a maple colored (Pergo) laminate in the hallways. I love the warm maple laminate but despite a pricey $2.54 per sf, it chips easily. Now I am unsure if I should continue to use the same Pergo laminate for my stairs. Can anyone suggest a more durable option? By the way, can someone tell me where I can post a review for this horrible contractor so other people do not have to go through the same emotional and financial stress as I did?

Hardwood would be your best option. I have seen laminate used on stairs, the edge banding (like a transition strip) used sticks above the stair surface and is not very durable. It is also not a very good look. As far as complaints, the BBB is the best place. Everyone has heard of them and has access to there data base. Also any web site they are listed on that has a review section. Google his name and they should show up. I'm very sorry you have to go through this, but the more bad press he gets the better off everyone will be.

Bathtub liner vs. replacing the tub
I have this job posted already, but i wondered if any professionals could tell me the pros and cons of an acrylic tub liner vs. putting in a new tub. I have an old shallow metal tub and we want to have the tub replaced by a professional, and do the rest ourselves. The space itself is a tight squeeze as the tub is surrounded by 2 exterior walls and a pocket door, so from that I understand a one piece acrylic tub/shower combo cannot be installed. Does anyone have any advice about the surrounds and bath liners? Here's the pic of my hideous master bath.
