I had Dan build some walls in the basement for my home on the lake in Sudbury (framing, drywall and prime). The work consisted of some 40 feet of interior partition walls including doors and rather complex bulkheads. I can only say that the price was fair given the amount and complexity of the work and that the workmanship was excellent (Dan showed real concern for the quality of the work). One of my early issues was the need to keep the dust in the rest of the house under control; this turned out not to be a problem at all. Water
My family bought our first home last summer. We were privileged enough to be able to buy a home in a very lovely area. The house was extremely expensive (private sale) over-priced but we loved the street and thought the house suited our needs well. Soon after we moved in we realized the house had quite a few problems. The most significant was the east wal was leaking extensively. We brought in insurance people but they claimed the problem was lack of maintenance or poor workmanship. Not covered. I hired a company (late October) to come and repair the exterior so that we wouldn't have to worry about water coming in during the Spring. They opened up the wall and said they repaired the problem then covered the wall again. I had the rest of the interior work finished once the exterior was complete. Today I have found the water is once again leaking into the house in the same places it was last summer and fall. $10622.00 later and there is no difference. What can I do?

Hi Tricia, You didn't say where the water was coming in or what repairs were made? Some more observations on where you're noticing water entry can help us shoot you better advice. I like and agree with all the things that Glenn said, but if you're not having water coming into your foundation, then it isn't really going to help you. Perhaps you can give us some more details? Deck Repair
Is it possible to cover a solid wooden deck with tile, vinyl, stone or some other weather resistant flooring to extend it's life and make it relatively maintenance free? I want to extend my house onto the deck and make the deck easy to maintain. In addition, I have two dogs that use the deck as their bathroom. I want it easy to clean with no spaces for excrement to fall through.

Hi Tricia, If you are thinking about putting any type of tile(porcelean, ceramic etc..) down over the wooden deck, you would first need to apply a cement backer board to help level out the deck, eliminate the gaps in the deck and give the tiles something solid to be mounted on.
