Dean's General Contracting - located in Woodstock

We used Dean's General Contracting for our kitchen, dining room and deck reno. This involved totally gutting the kitchen and dining room, changing exteriror doors, opening up load bearing walls, and planning and extending our new deck. The renovation was completed efficiently and we were consulted us through the various stages of the process. Additionally, this was a messy job and kept the mess contained to the renovated area. They went out of their way to make sure the worksite (which was also our functioning sink and stove) was useable at the end of every day and with a toddler in the house, it was as safe as possible. Also, we live in an older home with some destinctive features such as 10 inch baseboards and hardwood floors. The crew ...more

I would highly recommend Dean's General Contracting to anyone - and I have! They replaced the flooring in my living room from carpet to laminate and did a wonderful job. They were very kind, careful, and meticulous about their work. I was so pleased in fact, that when my basement flooded, they were the first company I called to fix the drywall and flooring. Again, they did not disappoint. Despite the mess the flood created, by the time they were done, you would never had known there was a flood in the first place. I am truly sold on their service. Dean's General Contracting is the only company I will use from now on because I believe in their work. You will not be disappointed!! Meaghan Woodstock, Ont

Wallpaper
Me and my boyfriend are trying to fix up our house. When you would walk in the front door there was awful wallpaper, my boyfriend had started to try peeling it off, and we realized that it was put right on drywall and he has tried peeling most of it away, now the wall is all blotchy and we are finding it very hard to get it all off. We tried sanding and that wont work.
I know we cant get dry wall wet so I have no idea how to get it off and it looks awful.
Please help!

Hi Natasha, The fastest and easiest way to solve your wallpaper sticking problem is to purchase some DIFF from your local paint store or home depot. It is a wall paper removal solution that you can use concentrated or diluted in water. Simply put into a regular spray bottle, like you would use for the ironing, and spray all over wallpaper until wet, then use a putty knife, at least 4-6in wide and start scraping carefully. Any holes or gouges made in the drywall beneath can easily be fixed by the two of you with some drywall mud, no need to hire anyone for that either. Good luck! Hello Dave, Did you know about jewel stone application? It is an acrylic modified cement-based, trowel applied material. It would be the best way to create a stone look without losing interior spaces.
