What a pleasant experience for my first interaction with a contractor.
Not only did Grand River come in slightly under the projected budget, they finished right on time. We were allowed to perform some of the tasks that would help reduce time and the hours billed such as taking the garbage to the dump ourselves, taking down the bathroom lathe and plaster walls and picking up our own supplies from Rona with Luke's guidance and advice. The Grand River team were unfailing courteous and they worked with us to make our bathroom reno, laminate floor installation and the installation of french doors a pleasure.
Grand River completed the bathroom reno quickly, removing our tub and installing a glass walled shower, moving a wall between a bedroom and the bathroom 2 feet and building a shelving unit/cupboard and adding new countertop and a sink in the bathroom. Once the floor was removed, I changed my mind on the flooring and Luke was able to accomodate my wish for ceramic tiles without much change to the cost. He also was able to install additional outlets in the bedroom we were turning into a small office and he moved our telephone cord around to eliminate excess cords.
Our laminate floor was laid in a day and the job was performed with a minimum of waste. I couldn't be more pleased. The french doors necessitated a new frame be built into the existing opening which was too large for any standard door. Luke managed to make the doors look like they had always been a part of our 100 year old home.
I would highly recommend this firm to anyone looking for a conscientious contractor who is easy to work with and very accomodating. (Luke and his team were especially good at making friends with our dog so she quickly stopped barking when they would arrive and depart.)
