Renovation Contractor in Oshawa, ON

We hired Marc to finish our basement this past Fall after finding him on this site. From our very first meeting, Marc was very professional and easy to talk to. He listened to our vision and was constantly communicating with us over the course of the project if any issues arose or decisions needed to be made.

On site, Marc always kept the space clean and was very respectful of our space and time. We were very happy with the quality of his work, and the budget stayed true to his original quote.

We would definitely hire Marc again and have already recommended him to a number of friends who are thinking of starting their own renovation projects.

Marc is a great guy. His work is fantastic and he is very easy to talk. He has great ideas when you need some creative input but doesn't push. His quote was reasonable, not the most or the least expensive that we had been given by other contractors (that is the ones who bothered to call us back at all). He did a lovely bathroom for us and I couldn't be more pleased with his work. He always cleaned up and was careful to put his things away before he left after the days work was completed.

He is very respectful of the client and their home as well as a wonderful friend to any pets you may have. We have 3 small dogs and 4 cats and they all loved him, especially our one cat Riley who would sit on the toilet and watch Marc work...lol.

All in all we would definately have him back and plan to in the near future . He is highly recommended by us.

I had Marc complete a bathroom reno a few years back. The work was done on time and with great detail. There was an item he had to build at home and stain. It took me weeks of emails and calls wondering when he was going to finish installing the item.. I finally had to mention going to the better business association to finally get him to finish the job. I wanted to let bygones be bygones because I was happy with his work and called him a few weeks ago for a quote for some work on my main floor. Three weeks later I still dont have a quote. Instead of being professional and telling a client he doesnt want the job, he just doesnt return calls or emails or gives you the "yes, the quote is coming"... and it never does. Word of mouth is very important in this business so is professionalism and wasting an hour of a homeowners time taking measurements and giving ideas when he knows he isnt going to even write up a quote isnt professional. It appears this isnt the first time he has done this based on the reviews of this site. I had two other people in who could do up an equally professional quote in under 48 hours.......

My husband is very handy and is always the one to do any renovations in our home, with ease; however our schedule just does not permit for any new projects to be added to our long list of “must haves”. Knowing the mud and taping is not a nice job, we call in 5 companies to give us a quote.

When Marc came to measure the space, he was very knowledgeable and personable. He asked questions so he knew exactly what we wanted; he was respectful of our time and our home. He had the “Crystal Clear” quote to us within 24 hours; we were extremely happy with his quote and the details that we didn’t even think of. We had asked for the mud and tape to be completed and he went the extra step and primed the basement as well.

We were extremely happy with the finished project that we have extended our renovations into our laundry room/storage closet. Again, Marc took the time to understand just how important this space was to myself and my husband (really it only meant something to me, I believe Marc knew this) All kidding aside, Marc has surpassed my expectations and has given me a space that I love being in now.

Marc is probably the friendliest and most trustworthy guy we have met in a very long time. We trust him entirely and he has had full access to our home during these renovations with no issues. Needless to say our renovation project list seems to be getting longer, something my husband would gladly do, if he had time, he now says “Call Marc, he’ll do it the same way I would”

I met Marc in late 2010 when he fixed a bathroom reno that had gone bad. Marc did an excellent job so I chose to use him again as I just purchased a new home and have a list of desired renos. He came to the house May 1st to go over what needed to be done and that is the last I have heard or seen of him. He promised to send me a quote by EOD last Thursday but nothing. With kitchen cabinets scheduled to arrive within the next few weeks, I now have to rush around to find a new contactor - very frustrated and disappointed.

Marc is what you call a "dream contractor". He hit all the marks for us work-wise and provided that "human touch" that is so sorely lacking with a lot of contractors. Marc understood that we wanted top quality work for a fair price and he provided us with options when quoting for the job (much appreciated). In terms of the actual work -- in our case it was adding a heating duct run into a garage we had converted into a spare room -- not only do we have no complaints but we're actually floored by how fast and how good he is. Marc has a vast skill-set and his people skills are top-shelf. To boot, he's one of the nicest guys you could ever meet. We recommend Marc very highly and will surely be "using" him again in the future -- God knows that in our 35+ year old house there's still plenty of work to be done :-)

Marc was amazing! i have gone threw reno hell in the last 2 years with numerous contractors and marc was a life saver!! He was so professional but super friendly and his work was amazing he is like a one man army. He finished my basement for me and i never thought it could look as good as it does now. He actually loves what he does and he wants to help you and make you happy! He will be back in the spring to do some more work for me i would reccomend him to everyone! great experiece all around from him to his work it could not have gone any bettter!!!!!

Crystal Clear Home Renovations exceeded our expectations, especially considering the fantastic pricing we received. I have absolutely zero complaints and can't recommend their service enough. We've already used them to do some other work/repairs in our home since having them finish our basement earlier this year. If you're looking for someone who you can trust to do a great job, and work on your home while you might not be able to be their, Crystal Clear is an excellent choice.

We have been very pleased with the work completed by this company. We have used them for two renovation projects and referred them to other acquaintances. My husband is quite handy but the workmanship done by Crystal Clear Renovations was beyond our abilities and our expectations. We hope to continue to use them for future projects - for we have many! Marc completed a basement renovation for my husband and I, as well as two bathroom renovations, over the course of a year and a half (June 2009-November 2010). We have been very pleased with his workmanship, his attention to detail, his interpersonal skills, and his willingness and interest in catering each project to our needs and plans. Unlike many contractors, Marc takes the time to explain the details of the job to his clients, and is respectful of his clients' timelines as well as their budgets. We have found his work to be very reasonably priced, his knowledge extensive, and would highly recommend him to others.

We recently ( Sept 2010 )had Marc do a basement shower reno. Marc's workmanship, and vision were outstanding. A very professional job, from the initial meeting, to the completness of the job. We had a small problem with some plumbing, and Marc responded to our call, and came back to the job within a couple of hours. We are definatly going to have Marc do our next major project.

Marc recently (January) hung, mudded and taped the drywall for us in our basement. (about 900 square feet of space) We did the framing (and everything else), Marc did the drywall on the walls, around a bulkhead, a little on the ceiling, and several pipe outcroppings. He did one room and a hallway from hanging the drywall to mudding, sanding and priming, and one utility room left unfinished (as we had requested), with just the drywall and a quick skim coat.

Timing � Marc scheduled us in and knew we were anxious to get it done asap, so when he found he could come a few days earlier he called right away to let us know. We were happy that he was able to come sooner. He was very good about being on time in the morning. One morning he was going to be � hour late and he called to let me know. He even came one Saturday morning to do a quick mud coat so that he could work on it the following Monday. Overall the job was finished fairly quickly. He worked hard all day and didn�t even take lunch breaks.

Finishing � Marc primed the walls in the room & hall that we were going to paint, which was great as I had been expecting to have to do that myself. I don�t think most drywallers (at least the ones we had in to quote) do that. Some of the drywall could have been a little smoother around outlets and corners but overall he was working with what we had provided and if things weren�t necessarily straight in the framing or whatever he did what he could with it. We did have only one issue with the finishing around the electrical switches and outlets. We did all the electrical work ourselves and had the electrical outlet and switch boxes in place before Marc came to do the drywall. Instead of removing the outlets and switches Marc cut larger holes for the outlets/switches. These holes he cut were all fairly large and we ended up having to get �jumbo� outlet covers to hide the big holes. This problem could have been averted with ~15 minutes of extra work.

Other � he helped us out with a door we had installed badly; he took it out and reinstalled it so it worked better. This was above and beyond the job we�d hired him for and he didn�t charge us extra for it. He always asked when he had a question about what we wanted and made sure at every step we were on the same page. He was very polite and quiet, I offered for him to crank the radio as I don�t care, but he always did keep his radio low. I was at home during the entire time as I work at home and as a woman alone in the house with a stranger, Marc made me feel quite comfortable and safe with him there. He did keep the work space very tidy, he cleaned up at the end of each day, put tarps down in finished areas of our house, and removed all his construction garbage as well as some of ours (again above and beyond).

As for price he wasn�t the cheapest we saw or the most expensive as we had a number of people come to give a quote. He was however the only one who was on time, very polite, didn�t talk down to me (as some of them did, like a woman can�t understand the simplest construction information), very professional (he provided his tax info, a typed quote in advance, responded in a timely way to emails) and overall a nice person. We felt we paid a fair price. Also he didn�t try to ask for cash and do an under the table deal. Some of the guys we had in insisted on cash only. That means that you don�t pay tax but also you have no way to fight it if there is a problem with the contractor, and also can�t use it for the new Home Reno tax credit this year. Personally we felt we�d rather pay the tax and have the peace of mind.

I don�t think you�d go wrong hiring Marc. We were happy with his work and his professionalism.

Crystal Clear Home Renovations did an outstanding job on my numerous projects. They were brought to bulid one bathroom and have ended up working on just about all rooms in my house and I will be calling them back for 3 more projects in the next year. The communication was excellent and they were very willing to work with my budget and even suggested better alternatives to ideas all ready in the works. Extremely detailed quotes and project specifications ensured that eveyrone was on the same page and there was a lot of emphasis on making sure all facets of the constuction / renovation were understood. All jobs from big to small were done with precision and care. Great sense of humour was also displayed by the team as work had to be done around neurotics pets and family members.

Crystal Clear Renovations just completed a number of renovations in my home. They were great. Although our original job was challenging (cleaning up past mistakes) they were always professional and kept their humour throughout. They did such a great job we asked them to renovate our bathroom as well. We had a basic plan in mind but Crystal Clear Renovations added suggestions as we progressed. The final result is nothing short of spectacular!! They were very professional, patient, exacting in their workmanship, cleaned up every day and tried their best not to disturb the family. I will definitely call on Crystal Clear Renovations for my next project.

Crystal Clear Home Renovations did an absolutely outstanding job on my bathroom. They took the time to understand what I wanted and delivered precisely that. They never cut corners and did not do things "on the cheap." They are high class and high quality. Throughout the project they kept an easy, open line of communication by encouraging me to review the work as it progressed and taking the time to answer my questions. They cleaned up every day and took care not to distrub my family. The quality of work was fantastic.

Quality of work for my renovation was excellent. Contractor's were dedicated to ensuring the highest quality of workmanship. Kept work area as clean and contained as possible & cleaned up at end of every day to make as much of the house usable as possible. Takes great pride in making sure that the project is completed to a very high standard. Communicates with customer on regular basis to make sure that customer is satisfied with each step of the process, that the customers needs are being bet, and is able to quickly adjust to any changes that are requested by customer to ensure that customer is totally satsified with the final outcome of the job.

Overall, I am extremely pleased with the work that the contractors have done in my home. I would highly recommend this contractor to others for their renovation needs and would definately use them in the future for my renovation needs.
