We had a complete condo renovation to be done with a very short lead time to procure a contractor and a very short timeline to have the work completed. We interviewed 5 contractors at the condo in one afternoon. I had printed off the 'job description' that I had posted on Handy Canadian and had a copy for each contractor at the condo. Igor was the only contractor who walked through the job description with us, made notes, and took measurements - he was very professional and personable. He was the first contractor to provide a very detailed and competitive quote and a concise contract for the work including a detailed scope of the work.

Igor met with his workers on site every morning at 8am and reviewed the work that needed to get done that day and he came to the work site almost every evening to review the work that had been completed and determine the work required for the next day. He was accessible via phone or e-mail whenever we needed to reach him. He was always professional and his team was polite, and professional and the quality of work was excellent. To keep cost down, we were able to do much of the demolition, material procurement, and basic grunt work ourselves including debris removal and painting and we were able to utilize our own electrician and source our own kitchen cabinet supplier and flooring. Basically, we had the flexibility to become part of the renovation team and were able to generate cost savings this way. It was great to have that option - some contractors we interviewed would not allow this and we know some folks having a renovation done do not want to be that involved.

The project was managed incredibly well and the tight deadline was met. On the final week, the countertops were installed on Tues afternoon and Igor had his tile person on-site at 8am on Wed morning to do the backsplash, the plumber arrived as the tiler was finishing and stayed until all the plumbing in the kitchen and bath was complete (well into the evening). Wed morning, the tiler was doing the grouting and the general carpenter was installing the baseboards and trim. By end of day on Thursday, the trim and baseboards were installed. The movers arrived with our stuff on Friday morning and Igor arrived mid-afternoon on Fri to see how things were going and begin the deficencies and final touch-up list.

Igor's team worked evenings and weekends (the plumber was at the condo at 8am on a Sunday morning) as needed to get the job done and they were all polite and very professional. He came in within budget and the cost over-runs were our own as we made some changes to the scope of the work along the way. So far I have recommended them to a co-worker who hired them to do his bathroom renovation. I would recomend them without hesitation as Igor and his team were critical in getting the job done. We were able to work through and resolve any issues that came up (and in any renovation, there will be issues) and having talked to several people who were undergoing contracted renovation work at the same time as we were, we quickly realized that Igor and his team were exceptional in their ability to manage the project timeline and to get the job done, on budget, and on time.
