We are so pleased with the result of our recent basement renovation. James and John were so courteous and very good workers. They started with a bare bones unfinished basement and ended up with a family room, beautifully finished from the dry wall, paintwork, carpeting and pot-lights in the California ceiling. The bathroom had to be made almost from scratch as it was only roughed in for a two-piece and we wanted a three piece with a shower. The ceramic shower stall was beautifully finished and we are so pleased to finally have a second shower. Well done, James and John.

James McDougall and John Manson from Avid Renovations have remodelled the entire main floor of our 1922 year-old house.

From the development of the terms of our contract to the final completion of the project, my husband and I have found both James and John, respectful, honest, trustworthy and reasonable.

From the get go, these two contractors made little impact on our household routine; daily cleaned up their work area to the final inspection.

They worked around our big dog and two needy cats without complaint and in fact with some affection.

James and John completely remodelled and designed a very old, deteriorated kitchen to a model one; new flooring and paint in the dining room, living room and hall within an elegant, refreshing look that managed to keep the original history of our home intact, but yet modern in new windows, engineered flooring and design.

The standard of work was of a high standard; we have no complaints. They completed the project within both a reasonable time frame within reasonable costs, and kept us within the budget we have available.

What I admire most about Avid Renovations is how they added the finishing touches, like crown molding, sandblasted our old-fashioned vents advised us on the wood flooring, kitchen cupboards to keep this house a home that I remember from my youth (it was my parent’s home that they bought in the 60’s).

All in all, an excellent team that I and my husband endorse for any renovation project – especially if it is an older home!

I used AVID Renovations for a large window job at a rental property I own in Guelph. They gave me various options to choose from, and their communication was excellent. Avid Renovations Ltd. recently completed a closet conversion and bathroom update project at our cottage. Although a relatively straightforward renovation, the location considerably complicated the project. We’re very pleased with the final result and are impressed with Avid.

Communication is a critical component of any activity and is arguably most important with respect to home renovations where there are no absolutes until the drywall is removed. Avid excelled in this respect and subsequently there were no surprises, false expectations nor confusion at all stages of the project. Avid clearly understood the aim and scope of the project and successfully respected our time yet sought clarification when needed.

The remote location of the cottage was challenging and Avid demonstrated significant flexibility/adaptability throughout this project much to our appreciation.

Avid provided frank advice and presented solid design ideas. They clearly take pride in their work and regularly sought constructive feedback to ensure they were achieving our aims – again emphasizing strong use of communication. We have no hesitation in recommending this company, or using them again for future renovations.
