Condo Renovations: Hardwood Flooring, Plaster Ceilings, Install baseboard and Crown Molding

Alair Homes did a major condo renovation for me. I am very happy with the outcome. They kept me updated with all the steps and procedures, and helped me get from point A to B. I would certainly recommend Alair Homes to anyone considering renovations. They worked well with the strata and management company. I really feel I got good value for my money, and honestly, I think I got better value than I would have had I chosen another contractor.

Laminate, Vinyl and Porcelain Flooring, New Kitchen and Bathroom, Drywall Repair, insulation, New Windows and Doors, Trim Work and Paint

We hired Alair Homes for our house renovation. Some of the work done were laminate/vinyl/porcelain flooring, new kitchen and bathroom, drywall repair, insulation, new windows, doors, trims and paint. The project did take a bit longer to complete and some issues came up but they were professionally resolved. David and his main crew were courteous, patient and easy to work with, which is very important in the business. We're all very satisfied with the quality of work.

Thanks to Peter and his family for working with us through a major renovation in their Burnaby home. Peter and his large family lived in their home while we gutted the kitchen, new bathroom entirely, new floors, drywall repairs, re painted the entire home, and changed all the windows, new doors and trim, and added insulation! So moving furniture and belongings around and having workers there for a long time was at times stressful for everyone. It looks great now and is more comfortable than the pre-renovation home. (I think Peter would say that if they were to do it again, they would move out of the house for the renovations :-) Thanks Peter, it was our pleasure helping make your home look and feel wonderful.

Bathroom Renovation and Installation

Alair completely renovated one bathroom and installed a second one for me. I am very satisfied with the final outcome on both and will enjoy them both for many years to come.

David from Alair Homes was excellent to deal with. He was always on time, whether it was for meetings or providing follow-up. His team doing the work was excellent, they were skilled, courteous and always left my house as tidy as can be expected. I would highly recommend Alair Homes.

We had Alair Homes complete a major renovation of an old home in Chemainus that had been renovated many times from its original construction as a summer home in the late 40's. Construction on a structure with different foundations, and building styles is fraught with unknowns and uncertainties. We knew this from the beginning and so did Alair Homes. David Babakaif was the project supervisor and kept the lines of communication open and the house was completed with no compromises. All the surprises were dealt with in a professional and competent manner. The quaility of subtrades was excellent and we couldn't be happier with the result.

I have provided letters of reference to two couples from Ontario, planning to retire in BC, regarding the quality and professionalism of the Allair team. I found management to be responsive, professional, with respect to any questions during the construction process. The co-construct computer program was extremely valuable as it provided daily updates on the construction progress.

I was in a position to visit the worksite on a daily basis and therefore got to know the trades personnel. They all had a long term working relationship with Alair and therefore there were no supprises, delays, or financial issues. Whereas at times there were a half dozen workers on our site, on other sites we saw one or two people. Clearly, economies of scale is a relevant issue.

On the financial side, we came in very close to budget. I made some changes during construction which accounts for some of the deviation. All around the budgeting, financial control process was sound.

Prior to signing a contract, we "intervied" the contractors, Alair being one. Mr. Babakaiff spent a considerable amount of time with us reviewing our draft plans. He actually had Alairs' architect produce a set of plans before we signed a contract. The other two companies had no interest in providing anything until we signed on the dotted line. As a former Dean of a business school, I found their approach somewhat curious.

I strongly recommend Alair to anyone considering major renovations or building a new home.
