Don was pleasant but would only say "that's what the city allows" or "that's the way all carports have to be built now" whenever I questioned what he was doing. On one occasion, I went to City Building Permits and asked about an issue Don and I had been bantering about and was told that it could indeed be done the way I wanted and that the City had thought (by the drawings) that it was to be done that way anyway. When I told Don and also informed him that the City had Requilrements attached to the Permit and that they confirmed that these Requirements were faxed to Don, he claimed at first that they didn't send them because he didn't get them and then later said that his fax machine was broken so he didn't receive them. The Requirements were never completed but the City did Sign Off on the work anyway.... The Final Bill was substantially higher than the original contract price but since it was stated on the contract that any other building materials required would be at cost plus 15% and that unforeseen costs could increase, I had to pay the higher price. So I had to pay more even though he "forgot" about the items not listed in the original quote. I would not recommend Don McKay.

He priced out jobs very competetively. (Hourly rate was more than fair.He never wasted time getting started.) While waiting for me to arrive with material, he took the initiatve and completed detail trim on a bow window that he knew I was hoping to find time to complete!

Don had written detailed reciept of work, materials, taxes, etc. when requested. He was meticulous in keeping records of your job as well as meticulous detail in his workmanship.His experience shows in every aspect of his work! Thanks Don!

My home was listed for sale while being finished. The first person through offered more than asking price. Why? They said they were impressed with the beautifully renovated kitchen! This included ceramic tile floor blending into oak hardwood floors. He installed an oak kitchen, new plumbing, marble looking countertops and a tumbled marble backsplash with trim. He added a direct vent stove hood fan and fitted a brand new stove into the opening with a perfect fit. The cost was much better than any competitors, and he explained my options carefully and LISTENED to my input before proceeding with the work. Thank You Don for a job well done!

Don did all this work and extra within a tight timeline. (There was a short possesion date with additional work to complete. Don came to the rescue!) He is honest, trustworthy, hardworking and talented. He is also a very pleasant person to deal with as he extends every courtesy to his clients. I consider myself very luck to have found this professional first before taking my chances with others.Thanks again Don and company!!!
