Another few items to save money on heating are to install insulating foam pads to all electrical wall cover plates & all light fixtures. Also, check doors for draft you may need to replace weather stripping. Also if you have a mail slot in your door check it you may need to replace it. Check one of the contractors here or try me I can drop by give you a free estimate and list off all the items you can do to save on your heating costs..

Dear Max.
Most of the heating problems when so much is cause by loosing all your heat true the attic.
1st steep is to find out if you have on the attic a least 2 ft. of speeded foam required for proper insulation by O.B.C. ( Ontario Building Code)
2nd.Check all the windows and doors caulking from the outside to the inside, look for cracks on the silicone seal.
3rd Find on every window if (after removing inside trim) it has any empty or hulls in between the casing and the wall.
4th Check the walls for proper tar paper( outside walls only)correct insulation type and at least a 6 mil vapor barrier, make sure the vapor barrier is properly attach and tape with vapor barrier tape.
5ve buy an edge foam strip for all your exterior doors as well for the button cover of it.
6ix cover your entire switch and plugs plates from inside with especially design cover vapor barrier (they sale this at Rona or Home Depot) and tape.
Yes I know is a lot a work, but if you want to reduce the cost of your hydro you must.
7th You don’t mention what type of windows you have. I you have single sleeve windows I will suggest you changed for double sleeve gas seal. This may be your Problem.
