There is approx. 1 inch lip around tub.

The lip should not be under the drywall - actually it shouldn't be drywall at all! Make sure you use greenboard, or some water resistant at the very least - and end it at the top edge of the tub lip, the tiles on the wall should extend down and cover the void. Otherwise, if you have any leaks at all under your finished walls, the water will wick up the unpretected edge of the greenboard / aqua etc.
