Can a device determine if there is mould in areas where you cannot see? (eg. Ceiling, walls or under the carpet). Does Home Depot rent them if yes? |

I don't know about renting that gear...I doubt it, but you can call air specialists to test. It requires lab testing samples collected. Well worth doing if you suspect you have mould present. |

I haven't 'seen' any mould but that is a good idea to look into companies that test the 'air' to reassure me that we don't have mould....

I would advise you that it can cost a go buck or to for a specialist to come in to check for mold. If you have no leaks of water anywhere save your money. If it is an old house and the walls leak a bit then fix them and spray all the area around it that has any discoloration. If you see black dirt yep you got mold from previous years. if it is a new house i don't think you would have mold yet! Abba's Service. |

Water leaks aren't the only cause of mould. It's not even the most common cause really. I'd have to say that poor ventilation would hold that title. In the 70's when insulation was "the" thing a lot of homes were insulated improperly and with inadequate ventilation. Mould is nothing to ignore. It can be very serious. What made you first have this concern Anne? |

First of all, you can't see mould, it is the residual on the wall surfaces, or carrpet and wood, that takes on the dark or black colour.
you need to hire an Environment Engineer to do testing, they should be able to tell you if you have mould and what level of mould you have. |

Frank is right on! You can only see the mold after it starts t grow. Theproblem with older homes is that most of the time the venting and vapor barriers. where don different than today! You may need to do some updating. If a builder cut corners on these places in a new home today! Look out and you should report them. The problem lies that you would have to take the walls down first. Call a specialist first! |

Frank is correct in regards to the mold, if you do suspect mold then spend the dollar and keep your health and your families health in mind first.
Call a mold specialist in and or have someone who knows about the dangers of mold to inspect your home.
When you are sick and or dead then it`s too late to worry about money.
