Project Description: House was built in 1949. I want to completely gut the bathroom. The bathroom is very small. I recently had a new window put in it but that is it. It needs a new floor and probably sub floor as it is soft in one corner (was like that when I bought the house 6 years ago). The walls are tiled and ugly. The tub surround needs to be replaced and I would like it tiled or replaced with some sort of stone. The toilet needs to go as it is old and the lid is cracked. The bathroom gets mouldy easy especially by the ceiling corners (I think it needs to be fogged). Something is leaking from the bathtub not sure if it is the taps because it has caused a hole into my basement ceiling. My bathroom is small but in desperate need of repair. I can not live with it like this anymore especailly because I beleive the mould is not healty to breath for me or my daughter. I want the project done fast as I have dealt with other contactors in the past and I know sometimes they go way past the estimated finish date. Although I am not a contractor I deal with them on a regular basis and I am aware there is the right way to do things or quick fixes. Project Description: I have a basement beam that seems to be cracked and rolling. It is a two story house on Sherburn St. with an unfinished basement. The current support is 2 - 10x10 timbers supported in the middle with a 6x6 timber, I'm looking at either replacing the current 10 x 10 or switching to a solid steel beam if it means I could eliminate the centre support post. Getting the beam into the house shouldn't be an issue as we are mid renovations on most of the rest of the house anyway. Currently we have a partial basement with a dirt crawl space on the other side. The partial basement we have is cinderblock tile and leaks every time we get a hard rain, and we are concerned about what the dirt may be doing for our health.
