Project Description: We need to have a patio laid on top of gravel and limestone screening which was laid down last summer. The patio is approx 15X17 feet.
We also need a landing area and walkway installed from the driveway to the house entrance. We had a new septic system installed last year and the old walkway was removed. This walkway will require gravel & limestone base as well. The walkway will be approx 2X30 feet. The landing area will be approx 2X8 feet.
Finally, we need to have a step pathway from the driveway to a garage side door and from there to the patio. The total length is approx 40 feet. This walkway will be over a newly installed Septic bed and will probably not require a gravel & screening base. |

Project Description: I just bought a house (take possession on 1st of May) and would like to have the two mainfloor bedrooms re-floored. Each room is approximately 10 x 11, so total square footage would be around 220 (2 x 110).
I'm considering either hardwood, bamboo, or laminate. I would like to hear what my options are cost-wise and durability-wise with respect to each.
Currently, they have low-grade carpeting over under-padding over old linoleum. Please see pictures for close ups of what's underneath.
I am working with a relatively tight budget, and would like to know whether there are any ways in which I could prepare the rooms beforehand, whether that involves taking off the baseboards or tearing up the carpets or whatnot.
Ultimately, I'm looking for solid, practical, and decent-looking flooring. I'm interested in getting quality, detail-oriented work from a contractor who stands behind her/his work. Aside from price, I also tend towards working with folks who take the time to explain in detail what they are doing and give me options, rather than just assuming that they know best. Hope this makes sense.
Do get in touch. I will want to know licensing information, if you are insured, etc.

Project Description: I just bought a house and would like to do a basic bathroom update, pretty much as soon as I take possession (beginning of May).
It's a small bathroom, with a tub/shower, toilet and sink.
I won't necessarily need a new sink or tub or toilet. The main thing I'd like to update is the flooring and walls. I can provide pictures of this if you like.
The other thing I'd consider doing while I'm having this done is replacing the drain piping, which has a small lead section but is mostly cast iron. My home inspector suggested that it would be a good idea to get this done.
I am on a budget, so I don't want anything fancy -- just solid, practical, and decent-looking. At the same time, I'm looking for quality, detail-oriented work from a contractor who stands behind her/his work. Aside from price, I also tend towards working with folks who take the time to explain in detail what they are doing and give me options, rather than just assuming that they know best. Project Description: Note to all contractors: This is a newly purchased with a closing date of April 1st, any on site inspections would have to begin after that date.
Foyer dimensions: 5.1 ft x 3.75 ft
Powder room: 3.4 ft x 5.5 ft
Kitchen dimensions: 10 ft x 10 ft (roughly)
Looking to install ceramic tiles in the foyer, powder room and kitchen.
Currently the three areas are carpeted with plywood under.
We are also looking to remodel our upstairs bathroom to have it divided into a full en suite and a separate full bath. With this project we anticipate taking down two closets. One closet with be pushed in to facilitate a bath tube. The other closet will then be eliminated to facilitate a stand shower.
If it is not possible to have a divided washroom we would then like to remodel our current washroom into a large bathroom.
We would also like to have the remodeled bathrooms tiled, and have cabinets installed.
We are looking to have this project completed by mid-April 2010.
Current dimensions for the upstairs bathrooms are roughly:
10.5 ft x 7 ft
with a linen closet that is roughly:
2.8 ft x 2.25 ft
We are looking to pre-purchase materials, however if the contractor can provide a better estimate on materials, then we will definitely looking into what they could offer. We have an open mind and would welcome suggestions.

Project Description: The house is about 75 years old and the half basement is about 20 years old. Due to all the rain, we've been having drainage issues and this is causing my basement to flood. It seems to have also broken through the foundation from where the older part of the house ends and the "newer" extention of the house starts. (where the half basement kicks in) We also have a sump pump that seems to help.
We would like to get some estimates done as were new home owners. |

Project Description: Upper floor is a rental and requires no work. The main floor is where I the owner lives.
Kitchen ceiling and potentially a wall require rennovation due to water leaking from a faulty valve. I am also looking to get two other projects done: replacement of external gutters and capping of an old chimney.
1) The kitchen is about 12 x 12 feet and a leak from the upstairs laundry caused water to damage and soak through parts of the ceiling..the kitchen ceiling needs to be redone to fix this. I am contemplating replacing the current gyproc ceiling with ceiling tiles as an alternative. Not sure of the cost.
2) The house needs new gutters- looking to replace all of them. not sure of the footage required. Looking for purchase and installation.
3) The home has an old chimney that has been inspected. Recommendation from a chimney specialist was to cap it. Need that done. |

Project Description: Hi,
The front porch of my house is pulling away. I believe the bottom of the front pillars are rotting and causing everything to shift forward. I want to get it propped back up into place and properly attached to the house (all brick), fix up the pillars so they look nice, and make any required cosmetic fixes. The shingles are only a few years old, so I do not want to reshingle. We are looking to also put some new railings on.
Thanks, |

Project Description: We currently live in a 25 year old home, with room to expand to our backyard. Our current house is 3 bedrooms, approx 1800 square feet, we would be looking to do a 2 story addition, adding space to the main level and upstairs. We would be looking to move out 10-15 feet and the full width of the house. At this point, I am just looking for estimates to compare the cost of renovating or buying a bigger house. |

Project Description: 50 year old brick sidesplit with 4 foot overhang requires new eavestroughs/fascia/soffits etc. Siding was place over original wooden fascia but not enough venting was put in, consequently we have ice damming in the gutters and build up of ice over front door overhang. We have cable installed on roof over this area but it is inadequate. It all needs to be removed, proper venting installed in sufficient quantity and re-sided and guttered with large bore downspouts to prevent overspill. The house is a very large sidesplit and the overhang is quite deep. This is a large project in square footage/linear footage terms.
Please e-mail me to set up appointments to view/inspect site/job requirements. Please, no calls without apointments. |

Project Description: There is a foot by foot hole in our basement where the water line comes up a few feet away from our wall, this hole is nearly always filled with water but never overflows. We have determined that the water is not from the line itself and assume is it a water table that probably needs a sump pump.
We did have a wall leak that has been fixed. The floor has heaved in this corner and begun crumbling, we are unsure that this is as a result of the leak or constant water standing, or both.
Looking for someone who has experience in these types of repairs. We would like to know if we need weeping tile or a sump pump to fix out water problem.
We would like a few quotes and opinions. We have had a few plumbers in, but without any solutions. We do have mold issues and would like to be able to use our basement for more than a place to throw things!
We are looking at a quote that will have us doing lots of the work, ie. breaking up concrete, wince we would like to at this time continue to remove the clay sewer line in the basement floor to the sewer vent line.
the basement is unfinished and is 5'5 feet high with ductwork making it lower in a few places. The area affected is right at the bottom of the stairwell and along the front wall.
The home is a 40's built wood frame 2 1/2 storey home very close to our neighbors.
Please help us! |

Project Description: Project - Require new porch/deck/entrance to front of house, then landscape the remainder.
Property - 24 foot wide X 40 deep (approx.)
Challenge - small one floor, 2 BR house that sits on a slight hill. Do not want a large staircase on a deck/porch on stilts look. Age of house - approx. 60 years
Project Includes - removal of present cement path and flagstone work and replacement of cement path. Also includes one side of the house to be escavated (asphalt) and sealed for water leak and 18 inch cement path replaced.
Need tiered deck for front entrance, removal of existing cement and flagstone paths, replacement of cement paths, landscaping remainder area (small) and escavating and waterproofing one side of home. |

Project Description: Looking to replace a pair of missing window panes. They would of been mounted in aluminum frames, and slid on the existing tracks. The window frame itself is still in place, and is very solidly attached to the concrete frame. The entire frame is aprox. 37" x 56", with something like the top third being another fixed frame of glass (still intact). the mobile frames of glass slide left and right, not up and down. This is in an old converted factory building. Landlord is not interested in any sort of total replacement, and had previously wedged a sheet of plexiglas in the hole (cheap bastard)

Project Description: Our Acton home is a 1 1/2 storey, built in 2000, with an unfinished basement.
Basement square footage is 668 square feet, which is roughed in for a three piece bath.
Basement currently has a crack in the corner foundation which leaks with heavy rainfall and melting snow. Has not been previously repaired (that we are aware of). It is beleived the source of the leak problem is due to an exterior problem with the driveway, which slopes downwards towards the garage where water visibly pools (and leaks into the foundation below)..
We want to have the basement leak repaired, and the driveway regraded before commencing with our basement project. The basement needs to be framed, insulated, drywalled, and we would like it to have; partially drywalled and drop ceilings, bathroom (hopefully with a shower if room permits), a bar area, and a T.V area, with storgae built in beneath the stairs.
We want basement leak fixed first, with time to evaluate the repair before finishing the basement.. |

Project Description: Looking to build a garage on to the side of my house. 15'wx23d', 10'h.
Simple box style, nothing fancy or complicated, flat roof or slightly sloped. This project needs to have a low cost, therefore, I will do the electrical, interior walls, insulation, exterior siding, drawn plans, and permit.
All you need to do is excavate, footings, foundation wall, frame and roof. install garage door and access door at the rear.
This is a very simple basic design. I am looking to spend as little as possible as my budget is strictly limited! Anything else i con do to save my expense with you, just let me know.

-The wall has no HVAC, wires, plugs or anything on that wall. We just want the cutout so we can buy the sliding doors from Lowe's and have them install it.
We will pay in hard cash if you like and will only pay after the work is completed. We will also not do an estimate for this type of work since it's a standard cutout for sliding patio doors.

Project Description: Want to put in an entry door to the backyard, either a double french door or a wide single (depending on price difference). House is bricked, so the wall will need to be resupported with a steel beam. Any undamaged brick will remain with the homeowner for chimney reconstruction. Building permits will be taken care of by the contractor. Door will go where current window is (see pictures). House is 60 years old. Online estimates are preffered, but onsite estimates are okay if necessary.
We are also concerned about timing. Seeing as we have three pets, we will need to arrange pet sitters during this time. One homeowner will be accesible onsite or by phone through the duration of the project. A quality job on this project could lead to a more substantial project in the future involving plumbing, HVAC, and living space framing. |

The leak is repaired but that small part of the ceiling needs to be repaired/replaced. Please inform me of an estimated quote for such a project. It is that "popcorn ceiling" as well, if that makes a difference. We are moving on April 30th, and the repair of the ceiling is required to be completed before that date. The agreement is that the buyer wants the ceiling repaired. It is the "popcorn" type ceiling. Thank you |

Project Description: PROJECT
Your clients, Robert & Michelle are a well established couple with 2 Children ages 14 & 19. They have purchased a three bedroom house in a wonderful neighbourhood with the intention of adding to the homes square footage. The home is on a spacious corner lot with a generous side yard. Your clients are in their mid-fortys and intend to stay in this home throughout their retirement years.
The couple have decided that this renovate should take into consideration their needs in the future. Accessibility into the home and within the home should be considered. Robert and Michelle want to ensure all new construction and access to the home is wheelchair accessible but not obvious in any way.
Robert does some graphic design as a sideline. The business has grown in the past year and he now needs a permanent in home office with a separate outside entrance and good natural light. The office must have at least 8 of 30 deep counter space with shelves above for layout space. He also wants a large desk so he can have small meetings at his desk with clients. Allow for 2 extra chars and 2 two drawer high lateral files.
Michelle and Robert enjoy cooking and would like to enhance their small kitchen to support their passion. They realize the kitchen is the congregation centre of the house and wish to make it spectacular. The couple entertains often and frequently welcomes friends and family to their home so the house should be open and flexible.
They would like to take advantage of the large front and side yard with a porch and planting areas. Michelle likes to dabble in gardening when time allows. They would also like a double car garage added to the home preferably not as a main focal point of the faade.
During discussions with the family, Robert has mentioned his interest in green building and would like alternate methods and materials to be explored. Their eldest son will be studying Environmental Science at University and his enthusiasm for the subject has inspired the whole family to be more environmentally and socially conscious.
The basement is used primarily for laundry, storage and mechanical equipment. They would like to take this time to have the basement finished.
Robert and Michelles home furnishings have been collected over 25 years of marriage. Although they may choose to keep most of their existing furniture they have asked that you plan the spaces with the best possible furniture layout in mind. They will consider purchasing new furniture if their existing furniture does not work in the new plan.
CLIENT REQUIREMENTS
Design an addition(s) complete with basement home must fit within the neighbourhood
Existing rooms can be reconfigured and/or relocated where necessary
The final house should have a easily accessible bedroom and a full 4 piece bathroom (includes tub, lavatory, watercloset and separate shower all barrier free)
The family room must support seating up to 10 people comfortably and be able to accommodate media storage.
Dining room must be set up for 6 but expand to 10 for parties
Existing kitchen is to be remodeled to be spectacular and allow for 2 cooks and guests to gather round and either watch or partake in food preparation
Main entry to be redefined and more welcoming (consider initial view from doorway)
Design the entire basement to include the following: laundry room, storage and workout room. Allow for furnace, water heater, sump pump, electrical panel and water turn off valve to remain in the same location.
A washroom in basement is not required but can be suggested.
A office on the main floor with separate outside entrance
A main floor laundry possibly near the main floor bedroom
Double garage to be included.
Curb appeal is desired in a contemporary style with an architectural influence. The main entrance is to be made the focal point
Wheelchair accessible main entry and all new renovated main floor. Not Obvious.
The existing first floor ceiling height is 8.
A porch should be added to the front of the home to make a connection with the neighbourhood
Your client has requested you include environmentally friendly building methods, materials and new products for both interior and exterior.
A contemporary design is desired but you must consider the neighbourhood.
FINANCIAL LIMITATIONS
A maximum construction budget of $300,000 is anticipated. There will be a separate allowance for furnishings (not required at this time). Robert and Michelle plan to purchase new furnishings if they better suit the new layout.

Project Description: I was just curious, how much it would cost approximately (I know you would probably need to see property first,) but looking to buy and just wanted to get an idea or a ball park figure. House has a unfinished basement and concrete walls and floor and I want to change this into a studio apartment to rent out, for as low as I can. I do not need anything fancy when it comes to the counter tops or faucets or tub, but looking to add a small bathroom (4pc) and a basic mini kitchen (only looking to have 1 counter top w/cupboard below and sink, do not need anything else, for kitchen) and then I would imagine walls would need to be insulated and drywalled and flooor carpeted, how much would that cost approximately??? I seen on tv, they now have a system called sani-flo, so you do not need to dig into concrete and you would go off plumbing that is there, so if it is a basement, laundry is usually in the basement, can you go off the laundry lines for bathroom and kitchen or would new plumbing need to be done?? Please let me know asap cause this does affect which property to buy, Thank you for your time, have a good day and look forward to hearing back from you :).....online estimate please :) |

Project Description: We're looking for someone to wall mount our flat screen for us.
We're also hoping that whomever we find is a *LICENSED* electrician, as we're trying to kill two birds with one stone. Since we'd like to wall mount our TV, we need an electrician to install a wall socket that the TV would be in front of (to conceal the plug).
But if your an electrician who doesn't do TV mounting, or you're someone who does mounting but is not an electrician, we are also open to the possibility of teams if you know of someone you can work with.
As well, we would love it if you were able to come out and take a look at the room first. We have to get Rogers to move our TV cable to the wall that the TV will be going on, and I'd like to determine where that needs to be before the install. So, it'll require two visits.
Thanks, and please reply with any additional info as well as estimates. |

Project Description: I would like to redo the steps at the front entrance of my house. Right now there is a brick and concrete patio which measures approximately 4` x 5`, which will have to be removed. The original steps are still attached to the house and the patio was built over them. The house was built in or around the 60`s.
I would like the new steps to be similar to that of the original ones in terms of size (approx. 4 steps and 2` wide). I would like to extent the roof over the door a bit to cover the steps (almost a mini porch).
The materials I would like to use for the steps would be stacked bricks with slate steps (depending on the cost ).
I would like a online quote to start off with, and from there I will look into the finer details.
Thanks for all your help. |

Project Description: 10' by 5'10 in area. Originally built very poorly in a renovated garage space.
Split on 2 levels, on level contains bathtub and toilet. second level contains sink.
There is currantly a smell that comes up from bathtub when washing machine is in use, due to bad plumbing. A plumber informed us it was due to plumbing not running downward.
We would like the area on one level. All old fixtures replaced(toilet, sink, tub.)
We wish to replace tub with stand up shower.
We would like to buy all new fixtures and plumbing needs ourselves, and wish to do all finishing touches (paint, tile etc.) ourselves.
So basically we need someone to level the floor. Do all plumbing and install all new fixtures. |

Project Description: Dear Potential Contractors: Thank you for the over-whelming response to my besement reno project. I am sorry I cannot reply to each and every single one of you individually. I will provide a date on this website when interested contractors can come over to visit the site to get a first-hand look at the basement and exisitng structures and conditions. It only makes better sense to expect detailed quotes thereafter.
The only point is that I will need exclusive access to the Furance/ Water Heater room. I am guessing if the area of furnace room and exisitng bedroom/ office are subtracted. The total area for re-modeling would work out to approximately 1000 Sq.Ft.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Site Condition: Basement of approx 1400 Sq ft in Mississauga, floor in excellent condition that sub floor is not required. Ageof house is 12 years (Daniels Home). Previous renovations - 1 bedroom exists. I need control of the furnace and water heater area. Need total 2 bedroom, 1.5 baths, kitchen/ breakfast area combined and a living/ family room....open concept is okay. Looking for a modern/ feel/look. Project tp start mid to end Jun 2010. Rough in for 4 piece already exists, but its location poses a challenge to plan the other seciotns of the basement. Interested contractors may request an hand-drawn sketch from myself as I have posssession of the property only in June. At this time I would like to have only estimates and a rough idea what the basement would look like (in CAD rendering or plan view).
Please note, I will need a separate entrance to the basement.
Project budget may increase based on finding additional financing. |

Project Description: I live in a co-ownership with a small galley kitchen. I would like to remodel: new cupboards, countertop, drawers, sink, and floor. I also need to upgrade the electricity (one outlet doesn't work and the microwave cannot be set at the highest power setting for any period of time without blowing out the electricity and requiring a reset). My apartment is on the third of 12 floors. The building was built in 1959 out of brick and concrete. Preferred materials: counters: solid surface (high-grade plastic) or laminate; flooring: laminate or ceramic tile; backsplash tile: ceramic; sink: single bows; faucets: widespread; pot racks; water filtration; under cabinet lighting
I will be out of the country from April 12 to mid-February 2011. My sister lives nearby and has power of attorney. She will be the contact person for the project. But there is great flexibility with regard to timing. The building requires work be done between 9 and 5 weekdays and 10 and 4 on Saturdays, nothing on Sundays. The garbage needs to be hauled off site. |

Project Description: Hello,
We recently made the decision of moving from a beatiful 5 bedroom 5 washroom custom built home 2 washroom in Richmond Hill to a 3 bedroom farm house in 10 acres of land in Caledon Ontario.
My husband is a carpenter by trade and we would like to remodel our new home in our own to save in labour cost. We need professional advise in the reconfiguration of the house. We do not even know how to even begin placing the addition or where it should go. The existing building has a very unique lay out and we are strugling in putting it in paper. I have attached pictures for you to see and perhaps refer me to a designer that can meet with us and give us ideas on reconfiguring/remodelling the house that would meet our family needs. I am looking for a designer that can change the look of the house adding living space with a very low budget.

" As a Premium member I received my first lead notification
e-mail for a bathroom renovation. I immediately decided to
get in touch with the prospect. To my surprise he was eager
to meet with me and an appointment was made for myself and
my partner to visit his home and quote on the job. I was pleasantly
surprised to find the seriousness and quality of this prospect
was top-notch! Shortly after visiting the lead from HandyCanadian
.... WE WERE AWARDED THE JOB! We were astonished at how easy
it was...this first job has already paid for the membership!

" I believe that the internet is the
way of the future and I believe that handy Canadian is ahead
of their time. Businesses are fighting to win customers to
win a 10-100 sale. But here for less then 1 dollar a day can
you receive hot leads to build your business. I love this
service!!! "
